Operation of the Army and Air Force in Oaxaca

Personnel from the Mexican Army and Air Force managed to intercept an aircraft and its cargo in the state of Oaxaca as part of surveillance actions of the national airspace. The operation was a result of monitoring conducted by the National Center for Airspace Surveillance and Protection (Cenavi) and collaboration in intelligence within the framework of the Regional Interoperability Conference among countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Cenavi detected an aircraft heading towards Mexican territory, which triggered the deployment of three aircraft and a helicopter from the Mexican Air Force, along with a reaction force from the Army. The interception took place on land 16 kilometers southwest of San Francisco Ixhuatán, Oaxaca, where a Cessna 210 aircraft was located.

Inside the aircraft, 13 packages were found, each weighing approximately 40 kilograms, containing a substance with characteristics typical of cocaine. The cargo and the aircraft were handed over to the relevant authorities to carry out the necessary investigations and expert assessments to confirm the type and amount of drug seized.
